My Experience with HyperBaric and RSDS (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome)
I had a constant burning in my hands and several fingers were numb. My chest felt like I was having a heart attack. It was a very tight feeling. I went through all kinds of tests such as: computerized-scan-thoracic respiratory Svc" evaluation of wheezing monoxide diffusing capacity, blood gasses with oxygen saturation and hemoglobin. I also had a EKG at the doctor's office.
Chest pain due to RSD is quite common due to the fact that cardiac sympathetic plexus surrounding the heart is a rich sympathetic nerve Structure and its dysfunction can cause severe chest pain. I had upprGI endoscopy, diognosis, and one CA screen flexi-sigmoidscope.
On March 23-24, and 25, 2000 I went into the decompression chamber. After the third treatment my chest had cleared out. I have no more chest pain. Wow, feels great! One of my fingers and part of my left hands bas more feelings in it.
Then in July 2000 my RSD went from my toes to the knees. I had burning and it was becoming difficult to walk So on August 14-19, 2000, I decided to go back to the hyper baric chamber for treatment. About the third day, I started to notice a difference.
My legs were not burning and I was able to walk easier. I am back to normal, as far as my legs. What a wonderful feeling! I would recommend it to anyone who is suffering from pain or RSDS

Dear Dr. Scholly,
The purpose of this letter is to document my findings and impressions regarding Ryan Ray.
I have been following Ryan Ray for several months for refractory, reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
As you know, Ryan received appropriate early aggressive treatment for his symptoms of reflex sympathetic dystrophy including epidural and sympathetic blocks. Unfortunately, treatment results were very unsatisfactory in that he was left with severe pain.
Other treatments under my direction resulted in diminished pain. but very incompactly resolution of his symptoms and considerable residual disability.
Ryan was most fortunate in that he responded to hyperbaric oxygenation treatments. His initial treatment resulted in near complete resolution of his pain and subsequent treatments have led to complete resolution of his pain complaints. .
On physical examination today, his gait is normal, his strength is normal!. There is no sign of autonomic instability in the right, lower limb compared to the le~ lower limb. He still has some residual prominence of a vein above and lateral to the medial malleolus. but this area is no longer tender to the touch and is much less evident than on prior exams.
Ryan's subjective complaints and objective findings of RSD have completely resolved since his hyperbaric oxygenation treatments.
I have no other explanation for Ryan's dramatic recovery especially in view of the close temporal correlation of the treatments with his relief of symptoms. I will be suggesting hyperbaric oxygen as a treatment option for f'i.rtu11: patients with RSD.
Please feel free to contact me if you require additional information or have any questions at 630462-4070.
