Medical Professionals Helping Veterans

healingherosHealing Heroes Network is a 501 (c) 3(26-3714861) non-profit charity with the primary purpose to provide therapy to members of our armed forces injured in Iraq or Afghanistan following 9/11/01. This is possible through a nationwide network of medical providers. HHN promotes mental and physical rehabilitation to wounded heroes who have sustained traumatic injuries in the line of duty, including both brain and bodily injuries. We provide desperately needed therapies and services not currently provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. HHN will also step in if services are not available in a timely fashion, or in the amount of care needed.

HHN is always looking to expand, and welcomes providers in all areas of healthcare. If you would like to join our network, please contact us today.

HHN raises funds through public donations to provide medical treatments to veterans, at no cost to them. By encompassing every aspect of their medical needs, HHN can help these brave soldiers once again return to normal and productive lives.

Our Mission:
In brief, our mission is to heal America's Heroes by providing quality medical care to the men and women of the armed forces injured in the line of duty on or after 9/11/01. Through a nationwide network of medical professionals willing to provide services, Healing Heroes Network treats these brave warriors free of charge, for services not covered, or delayed under the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs benefits system

Our History:
Getting injured during battle isn't a new concept, but with advancing military weapons, more and more soldiers are suffering from injuries that go beyond what we can see. Roadside bombs, and numerous blasts are causing Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) on an exponential level. Many service members coming home from war zones are also suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Like thousands of other service members before him, Adam, a 27-year-old Marine was injured while bravely serving in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004. An all-too-common bomb blast left him with a TBI. Luckily, hope was right around the corner. Adam heard of a doctor who was well-known for treating injured veterans, and his specialty treatment called Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) that offered TBI victims a new chance at life. To his relief, Adam was referred to Dr. Allan Spiegel for treatment.

As a practicing Neurologist for over 25 years, and a specialist in Hyperbaric Medicine for the past 12 years, Dr. Spiegel knew he had the tools necessary to help this heroic soldier. But Dr. Spiegel faced a familiar road block. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs would not cover the cost of Hyperbaric Therapy. Like he's done so many times before, Dr. Spiegel offered to donate his services to Adam.

As Dr. Spiegel predicted, Adam's therapy was a success, and this young hero returned to a productive civilian life. The experience, however, left Dr. Spiegel with a familiar feeling; enough is enough. With a renewed energy for change, he traveled to Washington numerous times appealing for assistance in providing needed services to our wounded veterans, only to find frustration and delays. But there was hope...

After speaking with other medical providers, key military personnel, and congressional leaders, Dr. Spiegel found similar stories of needed treatments, but non-existent funding. He also discovered that, like himself, his peers wanted to make a difference in the lives of these veterans as well. With a passion to help those who protect and serve our nation, Dr. Spiegel formed the Healing Heroes Network

Why We're Needed:
It's expected that nearly all servicemen and women have had at least one concussive event or blast injury, with many Marine combat units reporting five to seven events during their military careers. These events can lead to:

•Physical trauma and concussion syndrome
•Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
•Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

These injuries can produce side effects which include, but are not limited to:

Cognitive Issues Headaches
Decreased Attention Span Memory Loss of Disturbance
Language Difficulties Joint Pain
Domestic Violence and or Suicide Muscle Pain
Irritability Imbalance
Depression and Anxiety Inability to Efficiently Process Information

Many of these symptoms can be healed through the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). However, the benefits provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seldom cover the entire expense of HBOT. America's finest young men and women should receive the best-possible treatments available, without worrying about how to pay for them.

On behalf of everyone at Healing Heroes Network, and the countless injured American veterans in need of medical help, thank you for your interest! Your support today could help heal a hero tomorrow.

Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the subsequent war on terror, thousands of members of our armed forces have been injured in the line of duty defending our freedom and protecting the United States of America. Often these men and women are unable to receive the medical treatments that would facilitate their return to a productive civilian life. While the Department of Veterans Affairs provides treatment to these troops, the scope of covered services is limited and sometimes unavailable.

That's where Healing Heroes Network steps in. We provide desperately needed therapies and services not currently provided or covered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Take some time to read about the veterans we are proud to support, and the services provided to them at no cost. With your interest and generosity, we can heal every returning service member wounded in combat, that needs help now.

Thank you!
